TRAVELING IN THE PAST
"THE WORLD OF ICE AND WATER"

Have you ever wondered what it's like to see animals that lived before us? Isn't it amazing to see them in person and learn more about them? When I learned about extinction, I got so interested to know them all. The dinosaurs for example are one of the most famous extinct species known, and other early animals such as mammoths and giant sharks, animals with wierd body structures and physical appearances that we've never seen before in real life. What if they never got extinct? What would be the world right now if they're still alive? Wouldn't that be cool? Wouldn't that be dangerous? Well for me I am just so curious about these animals. I wanted to know them better, I wanted to know how they are different from the animals of today. As if I've always wanted to go back in time just to study them. Well I guess now's the opportunity. Because this article I made will take us to the past as we learn more about the Mammoths and Megalodons.

First, let's go to the time of the ice age when mammoths still lived. Mammoths are extinct genus of the elephant family. They lived 1.64 million to 10,000 years ago. They probably became extinct after the last ice age. It is very obvious that mammoths and modern elephants are different from each other. Mammoths have fur and a thick layer of fat to protect themselves from the cold of the ice age. The hair was long and shaggy and covered the entire body. According to my research, smaller mammoths are just as big as the modern elephants. It's quite sad to think that they're already extinct. They could still be existing until now. I believe that humans already lived during the times of the mammoths. How did they treat the mammoths when they're still here? Isn't it they used to hunt them? But even though humans do that, the extinction of the mammoths is still unknown.

Now let us go to the oceans. Before the mammoths, megalodons already lived in this world. They lived 25 to 1.6 million years ago. Megalodons are giant sharks. They are twice larger than the great white shark. They are second to the biggest predator at sea. The largest being is the sperm whale. According to my research, megalodons are larger and heavier than the T-Rex. That's one of the most interesting part of studying the megalodon. As we all know, sharks are smaller than whales. But did you know that this shark's favorite food are whales? They eat seals and other animals, but can you believe that their favorite food is a whale? Well you might say yes, and it is because of their enormous body. Their jaws were so large that this shark would be able to swallow a Rhinocerous whole. Just try to imagine if this shark still lived until now. A shark that's favorite food are whales. Wouldn't that be scary for us humans? They may even eat other sharks because they're so big. These sharks eat 2,500 pounds each day. They might be extinct already, but during their times, the Megalodon was the king of the ocean, just like the lion that is the king of the jungle. It is not fully understood why this giant killer became extinct, but we can all be glad it is. A day at the beach just wouldn't be what it is today if they're still here. Right?
